Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a new requirement for vehicle inspections across the city: starting June 2, all vehicle owners must pre-book their technical inspection appointments online. The move aims to improve efficiency and reduce wait times at service centres.
Appointments can now be scheduled via the ‘RTA Dubai’ app or the official website www.rta.ae. The system is already live, covering 27 technical testing centres across Dubai, with only Tasjeel Hatta centre exempt from this rule.

If you prefer to go without a booking, a walk-in service will still be available at 19 centres, but you’ll have to pay an extra AED 100. However, eight centres will no longer accept walk-ins at all, and will only process customers who have pre-booked their inspection slots.
Vehicle Testing Centres in Dubai Requiring Booking (No Walk-Ins):
- Wasel Vehicle Testing Centre – Arabian Centre and Nad Al Hamar
- Shamil Centre – Al Adid, Al Muhaisnah, and Nad Al Hamar
- Al Mumayaz Vehicle Testing Centre – Al Mizhar
- Tasjeel Centre – Al Twar and Al Mankhool

The change follows a six-month pilot at Al Qusais and Al Barsha centres. The results were promising, showing a 46% reduction in average waiting times and a 15% drop in transaction occupancy rates, proving the online booking system can significantly streamline services.
To avoid delays and extra costs, it’s best to plan ahead and make your booking online before heading for your vehicle inspection in Dubai.
