Riyadh’s food scene is expanding again — and this time, it’s all about street food. Burns Road Express has opened its doors in Gernata Square, right across from Al Shuhada Park, introducing the bold flavours of Karachi’s iconic Burns Road to the Saudi capital.
The concept is inspired by one of Pakistan’s most famous food streets, where meals are served late into the night and diners gather for comforting favourites. The original Burns Road in Karachi dates back to the 1940s and is named after Scottish physician James Burnes. Riyadh now has its own version of that energy and tradition, tailored to the city’s growing demand for authentic, casual dining.

Step inside, and you’re immediately immersed in the culture. The interior is filled with colourful lights, truck art, and a vintage bicycle display. One standout feature is a playful cut-out of a traditional Pakistani truck — a nod to the original street’s visual charm. Burns Road Express also offers outdoor seating.
The menu covers all the classic staples of Pakistani street food:
- Bun kababs – street-style burgers
- Paratha rolls – flaky flatbread wrapped around grilled meat
- BBQ platters
- Karahis – wok-cooked curries
- Biryani – spiced rice layered with meat or vegetables
For something sweet or refreshing, there’s ras malai, chaat, doodh patti (milk tea), and lemonade. Eager to taste Pakistani street food? The restaurant welcomes guests daily from 12:30 PM to 2 AM.

Burns Road Express isn’t the only new arrival in town. Recently, SASANI, a Persian restaurant, opened near Boulevard City in the Hittin District. Meanwhile, Abou el Sid has launched at The Esplanade, serving classic Egyptian dishes in an inviting setting.
Plenty of new culinary spots to explore — and Burns Road Express is a great place to start. Stay tuned as we’ll be revealing more exciting openings in the Kingdom.
