Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new digital inspection system to improve the Dubai Metro and Tram experience. This update will make journeys smoother, ensure proper use of designated cabins, and increase efficiency in monitoring violations.

Better Enforcement of Women-Only and Gold Class Cabins

Dubai Metro and Tram have dedicated cabins for women and children, but sometimes men enter these spaces, which is not allowed. The new system will help inspectors detect and prevent such violations more effectively.

Gold Class Cabin users will also benefit, as the system will track unauthorized passengers using Silver nol cards in this premium section. This means those who pay for Gold Class should find it easier to get a seat.

If you use a transport card, it’s better to know that the nol card minimum top-up amount has increased to AED 20 since March 2025.

Smarter Inspections at Stations Thanks to Live Monitoring

The new inspection platform will analyze live data to quickly detect rule violations, especially in busy stations and during major events. Inspectors will be deployed more efficiently, focusing on areas where violations happen most often. A specialized monitoring center with real-time tracking will help enforce rules more effectively, ensuring a safer and more comfortable ride for everyone.

Increased Inspections in Dubai Public Transport and Fines

Since launching the new system, inspection rates have increased by 14% per month, leading to better enforcement of Metro rules. Repeat offenders will be identified, and passengers will be educated about the importance of following regulations.

For those who don’t comply, fines remain in place — entering a restricted area, like the women’s or Gold Class Cabin without permission, will result in a AED 100 fine.

With this advanced inspection system, Dubai Metro and Tram aim to provide a smoother and more organized travel experience for all passengers.
