All public parking in Dubai will be free on January 1, 2025, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced. This New Year’s Day perk excludes multi-storey parking facilities, which will still charge standard fees. Paid parking across the city resumes on Thursday, January 2.

Dubai’s public transport system will accommodate holiday celebrations with extended service hours and adjusted schedules. Here’s what you need to know:

Dubai Metro and Tram in Dubai on New Year Day

The Dubai Metro will operate nonstop for over 43 hours starting at 5 AM on December 31 and continuing through January 1. Dubai Tram services will begin at 6 AM on December 31 and run until 1 AM on January 2, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for New Year’s festivities.

Buses in Dubai on New Year Day

Some bus routes will temporarily pause during the holiday period:

  • E100 Route (Al Ghubaiba to Abu Dhabi) will be suspended from December 31 to January 1. Passengers can use Route E101 from Ibn Battuta Bus Station instead.
  • E102 Route (Al Jafiliya to Shabiya Musaffah) will also be suspended during the same period. Passengers should switch to the route available from Ibn Battuta.

Marine Transport in Dubai on New Year Day

Dubai’s marine transport services will operate on tailored schedules:

  • Water Taxi services include popular routes like Marina Mall to Bluewaters and on-demand options, operating between 3 PM and 11 PM.
  • Dubai Ferry offers scenic routes, including trips between Al Ghubaiba, Dubai Water Canal, Bluewaters, and Marina Mall, with several departures available throughout the day.
  • Abras and tourist trips will connect destinations like Dubai Old Souq, Al Fahidi, and Dubai Creek Harbour with convenient timings.

All RTA service provider centres and Customer Happiness Centres will be closed on January 1, reopening on January 2 with regular operating hours.
