Ramadan has started, and that means Eid al-Fitr is just around the corner. If you haven’t planned your time off yet, there’s still a chance to make the most of the upcoming break. The exact holiday dates for the public and private sectors in the UAE will be confirmed later, but here’s what we can expect based on past announcements.

Expected Eid al-Fitr 2025 Dates

The UAE typically grants public holidays from 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal. This year, if Ramadan lasts 29 days, Eid al-Fitr is likely to fall on Sunday, 30 March. That would mean a four-day holiday, with employees resuming work on Wednesday, 2 April.

If Ramadan lasts the full 30 days, Eid would be on Monday, 31 March. In that case, the holiday could extend to Thursday, 3 April, giving a five-day break.

How Long is the Eid Break?

Last year, UAE residents enjoyed a nine-day holiday for Eid al-Fitr. While a similar extended break hasn’t been confirmed for 2025, the official announcement will clarify whether additional days off will be granted.

What Happens During Eid al-Fitr?

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal, a time of celebration for Muslims around the world. Families come together to share meals, exchange gifts, and enjoy traditional sweets. The UAE comes alive with festive lights, cultural performances, and events across the emirates.
