Another airline is updating its rules for carrying power banks onboard, following Emirates’ recent announcement on similar restrictions. From October 1, 2025, passengers of flydubai are now allowed to bring one power bank per person in their hand luggage.

If you’re planning a trip with the airline, here’s what you need to know:

  • Power banks over 100 Wh (watt-hour) are strictly prohibited and won’t be allowed on the plane. The power must be clearly marked on the device.
  • During the flight, using power banks is not allowed, including charging your devices or the power bank itself via the aircraft’s power sockets.
  • Power banks must be kept in hand baggage only, either under the seat in front of you or in the seat pocket. They are not allowed in overhead lockers.

For safety reasons, your power bank should be switched off and kept protected from short circuits or accidental activation. To be extra safe, it’s recommended you store it in its original packaging or a protective pouch. And, remember, power banks are not allowed in checked baggage.

These updated rules are part of a broader effort by UAE airlines to ensure the safety of all passengers, following similar announcements from Emirates. So, if you’re packing a power bank for your next flight with flydubai, be sure to follow these new guidelines to avoid any hiccups at the airport!
