Nature lovers, get ready — Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi is set to open in September 2025, bringing the emirate its very first immersive butterfly sanctuary. Located next to The National Aquarium at Al Qana, this brand-new attraction promises a vibrant and hands-on experience with nature that’s as educational as it is visually stunning.
The new indoor sanctuary will be home to over 10,000 butterflies, flitting freely across climate-controlled bio-domes that replicate tropical ecosystems from across the globe. The experience is designed to feel like a journey through lush rainforests, divided into two zones: Asia and the Americas.

In the Americas dome, you’ll encounter species like two-toed sloths, caiman crocodiles, and fascinating native insects. The Asian zone, on the other hand, will house creatures like bearcats, koi carp, and a variety of insects from across the region — all surrounded by a fluttering display of butterflies.
More than just a visual treat, Butterfly Gardens aims to raise awareness about conservation while offering families, students, and nature enthusiasts an engaging escape into the natural world. Whether you’re coming to admire the delicate insects, or just stroll through a tranquil space filled with greenery and tropical life, this will be a welcome addition to Abu Dhabi’s expanding list of nature-focused attractions.
