Kuwait has introduced a new electronic visa (e-visa) platform aimed at making travel and entry procedures simpler, faster, and more accessible. Launched in July 2025, the website kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw is part of the country’s plan to modernise its digital services and support its goals in tourism, trade, and regional cooperation.

The system now offers four types of visas, each designed to meet different travel needs:

1. Tourist E-Visa (up to 30 days of stay)

This visa is for individuals wanting to explore Kuwait’s cultural and recreational attractions. It allows visitors to stay maximum 30 days in the country, giving them enough time to experience the country’s museums, markets, and coastline.

Tourist visas are issued for the following durations:

  • Single entry for 1, 2, or 3 months (valid for 30 days)
  • Multiple entries for 3, 6 months, or 1 year (stay: 30 days max per entry)

The tourist visa has four sub-categories:

1.1. Visa-Free for Nationals of 52 Countries

Citizens from these countries can get a tourist visa without restrictions. All you need is a passport valid for more than six months from the date of entry.

1.2. Professionals with Financial Capacity

This applies to professionals who live in GCC countries, the US, the UK, and Schengen nations. Eligible professions include judges, doctors, lawyers, journalists, engineers, and many others. The only requirement is a passport valid for over 6 months + proof of profession and residency for GCC residents.

1.3. Nationals of Other Countries (Not Activated Yet)

This category is for those who can prove their financial solvency. They’ll need:

  • Passport valid for more than six months
  • Proof of financial capacity (like a recent bank statement)
  • Confirmed hotel reservation

Additionally, a fee will be charged via bank card for possible violations, but it will be refunded when a tourist depart.

1.4. Event-Related Visas

This category is for people attending international or local events. The requirements for these visas will vary depending on the event.

2. Family Visit Visa (up to 30 days of stay)

This visa allows you to visit family members in Kuwait. You’ll need to provide a proof of family relationship (e.g., marriage contract, birth certificate) in Arabic or a certified translation.

  • Single entry for 1, 2, or 3 months (valid for 30 days)
  • Multiple entries for 3, 6 months, or 1 year (stay: 30 days max per entry)

3. Business Visit Visa (up to 30 days of stay)

Also valid for 30 days, this visa is tailored for representatives of foreign companies and institutions visiting Kuwait for meetings, events, or negotiations with local companies.

Applicants can be issued visa for a single entry for 1 month or multiple entries for 3, 6 months, or 1 year.

4. Government Visit Visa (up to 30 days of stay)

This category is specifically for government delegations and diplomats on official missions. It supports Kuwait’s growing role in regional and international dialogue. The visa can be issued based on an official invitation from the host government entity for a single entry or multiple entries.

The fee for all these visas is 3 Kuwaiti dinars (around AED 36). The payment is made when you apply. The official X (ex-Twitter) account of Center For Government Communication shared a video instruction of how to use the new platform and apply for e-visa to Kuwait.

Looking ahead, travellers planning to explore the Gulf region should also keep an eye on the upcoming GCC Grand Tours Visa — a unified short-term visa that’s expected to cover six Gulf countries. While not active yet, it’s a major development to watch for regional travel in the near future.
