Dubai is getting a new bridge over the Creek, aiming to make travel smoother between Bur Dubai and Dubai Islands. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) shared details of the project on Sunday, April 6, as part of a larger plan to upgrade roads and traffic flow across the city.

This new bridge is part of the Al Shindagha Corridor Development, one of the city’s major infrastructure projects. It will stretch about 1,425 meters long, with four lanes in each direction and the ability to handle up to 16,000 vehicles per hour.

It’ll be built between the existing Infinity Bridge and the Port Rashid development. The bridge will stand 18.5 meters above Dubai Creek and have a 75-meter-wide channel beneath to allow boats and ships to pass without issues.

But it’s not just for cars — pedestrians and cyclists will have their own dedicated paths, along with elevators at both ends. Around 2 km of surface roads will also connect the bridge to nearby areas, making it easier for people to move around Bur Dubai and the Dubai Islands.

The new bridge is just one part of a 13-kilometer-long Al Shindagha Corridor, which includes 15 intersections and links key parts of Dubai like Deira, Bur Dubai, Dubai Maritime City, Deira Waterfront, and Port Rashid.

Construction will be handled by Dubai Holding, with the contract valued at AED 786 million. This is also part of a larger AED 6 billion deal between RTA and Dubai Holding to improve transport in 15 major communities across the city.

Here are some of the big improvements planned in other parts of Dubai:

  • Dubai International City (Phase 3): New lanes and better intersections will reduce commute from 15 to just 5 minutes.
  • Dubai Production City: New bridges from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will reduce travel time by half.
  • Business Bay: Upgraded road links and a pedestrian bridge at Al Khail Road to ease congestion by 30%.
  • Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC): Four new access points and flyovers will double capacity and cut travel time by 70%.
  • Palm Jumeirah: New pedestrian bridges and improved road access to help traffic move more smoothly.

This major push to improve roads and bridges comes as Dubai continues to grow quickly. The goal is simple: keep people and traffic moving smoothly now and in the future.
