It’s time for UAE residents to get excited because, guess what? The UAE government has just announced the public holiday dates for 2024, and we might be getting a nine-day weekend for Eid al-Fitr!
Astronomers predict that Ramadan will begin on Monday, March 11, 2024. Should this hold true, Eid al Fitr is expected to fall on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
For both private and public sector employees, this means a possible nine-day weekend. The Eid al-Fitr holidays typically start from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 in the Islamic calendar. If April 10 does indeed mark Eid al Fitr, then Monday, April 8, will be Ramadan 29th, while Friday, April 12, will align with Shawwal 3rd in the Gregorian calendar.
Picture this: a blissful week of leisure from Monday, April 8, to Friday, April 12, paired with the two adjoining weekends. However, it is crucial to note that we will have to wait for the confirmed dates for the Eid al-Fitr holidays based on verified Moon sightings by the government.
As the days draw near, consider planning how to make the most of this potential nine-day weekend. Whether it’s embarking on a tranquil staycation, exploring new destinations, or embracing cultural festivities, seize the opportunity to indulge in activities that bring you joy.
