In a groundbreaking initiative set to transform the football experience in the UAE, Sharjah is embarking on the construction of two state-of-the-art football stadiums on mountaintops.
Announced by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, this innovative project aims to create an environment where athletes can excel and fans can enjoy the sport without the hindrance of the UAE’s intense heat.
The new stadiums are strategically placed at high elevations, with the Kalba Club’s stadium positioned at 850 feet above sea level and the Khor Fakkan Club’s at 900 feet. This unique placement is designed to offer significant advantages, primarily by providing a humidity-free atmosphere for players. These cooler, more comfortable conditions could potentially lower the temperature by up to 10 degrees compared to sea-level venues, enhancing the overall playing experience.
This ambitious project underscores Sharjah’s dedication to fostering a culture of sports excellence. Sheikh Dr. Sultan’s announcement also highlights the emirate’s commitment to supporting local clubs, especially given their impressive performances in the ADNOC Professional League for the 2023-2024 season.
The new stadiums are expected to further bolster these achievements by offering superior facilities and playing conditions.
Players, fans, and sports enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to experience football in an entirely new way.
The local sides, Kalba Club and Khor Fakkan Club stand to gain immensely from these plans, benefiting from the cooler temperatures and lower humidity levels that will positively influence player performance during matches.
