Five Abu Dhabi airports have signed a new agreement to improve travel experience for passengers arriving to the emirate by air. The initiative is called Smart Travel system and it aims to streamline immigration processes by allowing passengers to clear customs in as little as seven seconds using biometric verification and smart gate technology.

The goal of Smart Travel is not just to make immigration faster, but to ensure a seamless experience that gets passengers from the airport gates to the road quickly. The participating airports aim to provide a gate-to-kerb experience in under 12 minutes, allowing travelers to start their journey smoothly without unnecessary delays.

As part of the agreement with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP), Smart Travel initiative will be implemented at the following airports in Abu Dhabi:

  • Zayed International Airport (AUH)
  • Al Ain International Airport (AAN)
  • Al Bateen Executive Airport (AZI)
  • Delma Island Airport (ZDY)
  • Sir Bani Yas Island Airport (XSB)

If you’re planning to travel through Abu Dhabi soon, this new technology will make your airport experience a lot faster and more convenient. And if you’re heading to Yas Island after arriving, you’ll be pleased to learn about upcoming Tram Line 4, which will get you from the airport to all the theme parks and attractions in just 20 minutes. Stay tuned for updates on what’s happening in the emirate!
