Dubai’s dining calendar just got a new highlight. This October, Yu & Mi will open on the 36th floor of the upcoming Mandarin Oriental Downtown. Tucked behind a subtle entrance, the space opens into a setting that feels straight out of 1960s Hong Kong, with skyline views to match.

Inside, it’s all about atmosphere. Deep red seating gives the room warmth, neon script glows softly across the walls, and bold artworks add personality. Floor-to-ceiling windows keep the city in sight, while brick accents and low lighting make the space feel cozy without losing its edge.

The concept of Yu & Mi is built on two sides of one story:

  • Yu (jade) is the lively bar pouring cocktails infused with teas, spices, and botanicals
  • Mi (secret) is the dining room a few steps away — with Cantonese and Sichuan flavors

Together, they turn an evening into a full journey, from aperitifs to after-hours.

The kitchen promises a modern spin on classics, inspired by Hong Kong’s golden era. Signature dishes like Kung Pao Chicken and Dan Dan Noodles will appear in elevated form. Expect bold sauces, a touch of heat, and dishes that carry a little drama to the table.

Yu & Mi isn’t the only restaurant opening at the new Mandarin Oriental. Guests will also be able to try Chitarra for handmade Italian pasta, Osaka Nikkei for its celebrated blend of Peruvian and Japanese flavors, and Billionaire Dubai on the rooftop for nights that mix dining with entertainment.

And it doesn’t stop there. Across the city, new concepts are waiting to be discovered. Ostura will bring the magic of 1001 Arabian Nights to life with food and live shows. Another spot to book soon is SANA, an Uzbek restaurant where Silk Road recipes meet warm hospitality and beautiful interiors. Dubai’s dining scene is getting richer by the day — and now’s the time to start exploring.
