Pete Long

Jazz musician Pete Long is one of the most established names in his genre, having performed alongside and for numerous high profile names and artists across the globe. Having studied at the Royal London College of Music, Long joined the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, where he honed his skills on the saxophone, flute, clarinet and bass guitar.

He then went on to join the John Simons Rhumba Showband on the cruise ship QE2, where he travelled the Caribbean and began to work as a bandleader. Following his time onboard, Long joined the award winning Sax Quartet Itchy Fingers and toured across South America, North Africa and Europe whilst also working with some of the top names in jazz music.

Long then moved to London’s West End where he managed several orchestras, including during the musical Oliver. It was here that he also received an invite in 2002 to feature on Welsh band Stereophonics’ hit single Handbags and Gladrags which became a best-selling record in the UK.

The jazz maestro then joined up with world famous pianist Jools Holland to work with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, joined by Tom Jones, Lulu and Lionel Richie amongst others, and producing music for the likes of Texas and Sir Paul McCartney.

More recently, Long’s career has seen him work as an educator all over the UK, a developer of woodwind instruments and primarily the bandleader of the Big Band at Ronnie Scott’s. Long’s career is as varied and entertaining as his talents and has also seen him produce arrangements for numerous clients, among which include Seth McFarlane, Will Young and Joss Stone.
