British electronic music duo Zero 7, formed by Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker, have established themselves, in their 20-year career, as one of the top acts in trip hop and downtempo dance music. Their productions have seen them play across the world at numerous clubs and festivals.
Having begun their careers in the RAK studios in London engirneering music for the Pet Shop Boys and Robert Plant the duo created remixes of tracks from Radiohead and Lenny Kravitz amongst others. Following an EP, they released their debut album, ‘Simple Things’, in 2001.
The album saw collaborations with Sia and Sophie Barker and was certified gold. The album also saw Zero 7 win the Best Newcomer Muzik Award and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. The duo then went on tour with a full band and received widespread praise for their authentic live performances.
They released two further albums, ‘When It Falls’ in 2004 and ‘The Garden’ in 2006 which again saw them work with Sia. The Garden was well received and saw Zero 7 nominated for a Grammy Award in 2007 for Best Electronic/Dance Album. It also peaked at Number 4 in the UK and Number 2 on the US Dance Chart.
