Indian playback singers are known for their range and melodies, however Bhoomi Trivedi is one who broke out of the norm. Having grown up in a musically inclined family from Gujarat, receiving support and training at home came naturally and in abundance. While the music she learnt was classical, the genre(s) she gravitated towards were Electronic, Rock, Pop and Bollywood.
Trivedi is best known for her Bollywood track “Ram Chahe Leela” from 2013 Bollywood movie “Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela”, whereby movie and music director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was looking for a different voice to carry out this number. This track garnered her many awards and recognition from 2013 onwards with bids for several movie tracks for mainstream Bollywood and Gujarati movies.
Putting aside Trivedi’s sudden illness in 2007 and family tragedy in 2008, forcing her to quit her entries in the Indian Idol competition both years, her proper entry into the limelight was in the 5th edition of Indian Idol in 2009, where she finished at runner-up. Trivedi made good use of the show by showcasing her low and high ranges as well as her rapping skills leaving the audience and judges awestruck with her smooth command and confidence on stage.
