Indian playback singer, Mohit Chauhan was first known for his stint in Indipop music band, Silk-Route. Many from the late 90’s generation would remember the track “Dooba Dooba” from the album ‘Boondein’. It was the first that most would hear of Indipop after decades of only Bollywood songs, Indian classical music or spiritual/religious music. The fact that ‘Boondein’ was a refreshing beginning of a new era is clearly an understatement. The band dissolved some years later with Chauhan moving onto a solo career with his debut album being the notable ‘Kala:m’ that featured poetry written by India’s former President, honorable Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and sung by Chauhan. Quite the feat for an up and coming solo artist.
Like most talented Hindi singers, several Bollywood music directors set their sights on Chauhan for their ventures, a significant number of which garnered him with high recognition among Bollywood fans and industry awards as well. In addition to this, Chauhan has been actively involved in good number of music-based reality TV across the board, from Star Plus’ ‘Music Ka Maha Muqqabla’ to MTV India’s ‘MTV Unplugged’ and highly praised ‘The Dewarists’. Chauhan also has several advertisement jingles under his name.
