A laser-eyed robot playing fierce EDM named after a Medieval British King? Only in the bonkersly brilliant world of EDM could this cartoon-frenzy of dance music and over-the-top visuals work. But work they do, as Puerto Rican born King Arthur – or Arturo to his mother – has been a big hit at festivals across the world thanks to his energizing mix of EDM, Melbourne, Electro and Complextro.
Gigs have followed at ComiCon, Ultra Music Festival in Miami and renowned American festival Electric Daisy Carnival, where he performs in his Sci-Fi 6’4” robot suit which has a battery life of 9 hours. He first started DJing in 2000, and with a background in mechanical engineering, created his robot suit in 2009 which boasts night vision, lasers, AC units and an air replacement system. A year later, he made the step up to producing his own music.
A true mixmaster – King Arthur boasts that he can play up to 60 records in an hour as he cuts and chops with precision – he’s also a DVJ meaning he mixes video content into his set, giving the clubber a full 360 degree display as music videos and multi-media are mixed in time with the music. So next time you see a robot DJing on stage at your gig and it’s not Daft Punk, you now know who it is!
