If you usually drive through Al Barsha South, be aware: entry and exit points from Umm Suqeim Street are now temporarily closed.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) made the closure as part of the ongoing Umm Suqeim Street Development Project, which is currently over 70% complete. No reopening date has been confirmed yet, but diversions are already in place.

To access or exit Al Barsha South during the closure, you can use the following alternative routes:

  • Street 31 (next to ENOC Petrol Station)
  • Dubai Science Complex Exit
  • Al Hadaeq Street
  • Hessa Street

This upgrade is part of the Umm Suqeim-Al Qudra corridor project, a 16 km stretch running from Jumeirah Street to Emirates Road. And here are the first results: a couple of days ago, a new 800-metre-long tunnel at the intersection of Umm Suqeim Street and Al Barsha South Street was opened.

Another traffic diversion is now in effect near Dubai Harbour. If you’re heading to the area via King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Street, traffic is being rerouted through:

  • Al Marsa Street
  • Al Khayay Street
  • Al Naseem Street, before merging back onto King Salman Street

This detour is part of ongoing bridge works aimed at improving flow in this busy part of the city.

Expect more changes soon. Back in early June, RTA announced traffic upgrades at 40 locations across Dubai, aimed at improving overall road safety and traffic efficiency.
