The skies above Abu Dhabi are about to get a futuristic upgrade. Abu Dhabi Airports has revealed plans to build more than ten vertiports across the city, paving the way for air taxi and eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) travel within the capital and beyond.
Instead of sitting in traffic, travellers could soon be hopping between airports, business districts, and other emirates in sleek electric aircraft that take off and land vertically.
The first vertiport is already taking shape at Al Bateen Executive Airport, chosen for its central location right in the heart of the city. Once complete, it’ll serve as the main hub for air taxi services when operations begin in 2026.

The UAE has also teamed up with American company Archer Aviation to roll out the first phase of air taxi operations, with all the needed regulations expected to be ready by late next year.
At the same time, Abu Dhabi Airports is upgrading its terminals with smart technology. Biometric solutions are already in place at several touchpoints to speed up the passenger journey. These systems promise customs clearance in as little as seven seconds.
And if you happen to travel from Zayed International Airport this week, don’t miss Food Fest happening right inside the terminal until November 16.
Stay tuned for more updates on what’s next in Abu Dhabi’s journey toward the future.
