The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi is set to unveil an exciting addition: the Light and Peace museum, promising visitors a cultural journey like no other. Recently inaugurated by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, this innovative museum embodies the UAE’s commitment to fostering peace, tolerance, and intercultural dialogue.
Sheikh Mansour toured the museum alongside senior officials, exploring its rich offerings that delve deep into the history and contributions of Islamic civilization. Through its exhibitions, the museum promotes the values of harmony and coexistence, blending art, science, and spirituality into a compelling narrative.
The Light and Peace museum is an immersive experience, spread across five thoughtfully designed sections. Each section integrates advanced multimedia and interactive technologies to present rare collections in an engaging way. The exhibits range from priceless artifacts to cutting-edge sensory experiences, making it a hub of cultural and intellectual exchange.
One highlight is the “Dome of Peace,” a multimedia hall that captures the spiritual and civilizational essence of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Visitors can also look forward to exploring themes such as Values of Tolerance, Sanctity and Worship, Beauty and Perfection, and more.
The museum also includes spaces dedicated to families and children, ensuring a meaningful experience for visitors of all ages.
Among the museum’s possessions are remarkable items from Islamic history, such as:
- A fragment of the Holy Kaaba’s Kiswa (20th century).
- The first Islamic gold coin.
- Illuminated pages from the Blue Qur’an (9th–10th centuries CE).
- A 14th-century Andalusian astrolabe.
- Personal artifacts of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s founding father.
