Dubai has been ranked the third most scenic city globally for nighttime exploration, according to new research released by travel experts at Travelbag. The study looked at more than 100 cities around the world to measure how well they cater to “noctourism,” a growing trend in 2025 that reflects the increasing popularity of after-dark travel experiences.

The ranking is based on several criteria, including:

  • Number of Instagram hashtags
  • Light and noise pollution levels
  • Nighttime safety scores
  • Number of late-night venues

Dubai secured the third spot thanks to a combination of safety, aesthetics, and nightlife options. With a nighttime safety score of 83, the city offers a secure setting for visitors. Its moderate pollution rating (53) and 190 late-night venues may not top the list in terms of quantity, but what stands out is the city’s emphasis on quality experiences and visual appeal.

Over 29,600 Instagram hashtags feature Dubai’s skyline and after-dark appeal, proving its popularity with travellers seeking nighttime views and activities.

Other cities that made it to the top 5:

  • New York, USA (1st place)
  • Tokyo, Japan (2nd)
  • Singapore (4th)
  • Muscat, Oman (5th)

This isn’t the only global recognition Dubai has earned this year. Back in April, the city was also ranked among the top 20 wealthiest cities in the world, further underlining its international appeal across lifestyle, finance, and tourism sectors.
