Abu Dhabi continues to lead the charge when it comes to offering innovative, community-focused experiences. This time, the emirate has introduced Misrah, a special initiative that combines a physical challenge with an immersive exploration of Emirati culture.
Misrah is a 1,000 km trek across the UAE desert, designed to engage participants with the region’s traditions, values, and history. Starting from 21 August, this unique adventure will not only push participants to their physical limits but also introduce them to centuries-old Emirati practices – all while travelling the desert just as it was done by previous generations.

The journey will unfold in two phases. First, 500 applicants will undergo intensive training in Abu Dhabi, which includes learning essential skills like camel riding, mastering traditional crafts, and exploring Emirati folk arts.
Training will run until 19 October, after which 100 participants will be chosen to continue on the full 1,000 km trek.

Misrah incorporates three key learning stations to ensure participants connect deeply with Emirati heritage. Each activity is intended to immerse participants in the customs and practices that define Emirati culture:
- The Coffee House
- Folk Arts Workshops
- Camel Pastures
Misrah is open to UAE citizens and residents between the ages of 18 and 25, and the application process is now open. If you’re interested in adventure, heritage, and national pride, this is your chance to join a once-in-a-lifetime trek that combines endurance with cultural exploration.
