Indian actress and singer Shruti Haasan is one of the most well-known actresses in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema. Having starred in and featured on the soundtracks of numerous films, Haasan has won several awards for her work and been widely praised for her performances.
Having been born into an acting family, Haasan found herself thrust into the movie industry relatively quickly, making her debut at 14 years old. Her singing career developed alongside her acting one, seeing her sing on the soundtracks of several movies, including ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ in 2009, for which she won the Edison Award for Best Introduced Music Director.
Haasan then appeared in 2012’s ‘7aum Arivu’ for which she won her first Filmfare Award South. She won the same award for her role in ‘Anaganaga O Dheerudu’, for which she also won the CineMAA Award.
In 2013 Haasan starred in ‘3’ and earnt widespread critical acclaim, as well as numerous award nominations. 2014 was another big year for the actress, seeing her nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer – Telugu for the song ‘Junction Lo’, which was featured in ‘Aagadu’ as well as the Filmfare Awards South for Best Actress – Telugu for Race Gurram, which grossed over $17 million, becoming the fifth highest grossing Telugu film of all time.
