Pakistani actress and singer Komal Rizvi is one of the leading talents in Pakistan, having received widespread praise for her singing, notably her productions with Coke Studio. Having begun her career as a teenager, Rizvi has gone on to release numerous singles and won several awards including two National Awards for Best Female Pop Vocalist and Best Newcomer.
Having travelled the world as a youngster, Rizvi’s career began in Karachi whilst she was a student when she appeared on PTV’s ‘Hawwein’ in 1997 as well as ‘Lehrein’. She continued to act in Pakistani TV, with further appearances on ‘Kabhi Kabhi’ and ‘Teesra Peher’ amongst others. She gained critical acclaim for her performance in ‘Mujhe Roothney Na Dana’ on Hum TV before concentrating more on her singing.
Rizvi rose to fame as part of Coke Studio’s third season, where she performed a range of classic folk songs with a modern twist. Her performances of ‘Lambi Judaai’ and ‘Lal Meri Path’ became instant hits for the singer.
Rizvi’s career, which has seen her become the first Pakistani female to release a solo album internationally, it has also seen her perform around the world, with tours and concerts taking place in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan and the UK.
