British-Irish stand-up comedian, writer and actor Sean Hughes is one of the most established names on the UK comedy circuit, having been a staple act at many of the UK’s top venues for over three decades.
From performances at the prestigious Comedy Store in London, Hughes eventually made headlines when he won the Perrier Comedy Award for his show ‘A One Night Stand With Sean Hughes’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He has since toured a number of times, performing in the UK and Australia with his 2007 show ‘The Right Side of Wrong’.
Hughes has also been praised for his work on film and television, with the 1992 ‘Sean’s Show’ being his key feature, earning him a British Comedy Award nomination for Best Channel 4 Sitcom. The show, which has since been released on DVD, also lead to Hughes touring the country performing numerous skits and shorts from the show.
Hughes was a team captain from 1996 to 2002 on ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ and he has also added ‘The Last Detective’, ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘They Do It with Mirrors’ to his impressive resume.
