Biography & Career:
Joseph Capriati is an Italian techno DJ and producer whose marathon performances have made him one of the most recognisable figures in global electronic music. Raised in Caserta, a small city just north of Naples, the artist first discovered what a DJ actually was at the age of eleven, thanks to American military families living directly opposite the family home. Early residencies in southern Italian clubs under the alias Prince J followed, and a professional debut arrived in 2007 with a first vinyl release that landed in the record bags of Richie Hawtin and Paco Osuna.

Mentored in those formative years by Rino Cerrone and Markantonio, the producer built a catalogue across labels including Drumcode, CLR and Nervous Records, before founding Redimension in 2016. The sound sits firmly in techno but stretches into house, tech house, acid and even garage and drum and bass, which is why the songs of Joseph Capriati can move from hypnotic peak-time pressure to something far more soulful and melodic. Collaborations with Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Danny Tenaglia, Louie Vega, Joey Beltram and DJ Pierre have all helped widen that palette, and the Metamorfosi concept has grown from an album into a full Ibiza residency, first at Amnesia and later at Hï Ibiza.

Endurance is part of the legend here. A 25-and-a-half-hour set at Heart Club Miami in 2017 was surpassed two years later by a 27-hour performance at Sunwaves in Romania, and closing sets at Time Warp in Mannheim have become an annual fixture. Having played in more than 70 countries across six continents, DJ Joseph Capriati remains a headline booking at Tomorrowland, Awakenings, Berghain, Fabric and DC10. The tour schedule stays relentless, with upcoming events running from Ibiza and Barcelona to Romania, Paris, Miami and Los Angeles, and tickets for the bigger shows tend to move quickly.

Away from the booth, the Italian keeps life fairly private, having spent years based in Barcelona before relocating to Lisbon with his girlfriend. There is no publicly confirmed wife, and details such as height and net worth have never been officially published. One episode did become very public: in January 2021, during an argument at the family home in Caserta, the artist was stabbed in the chest by his father and spent weeks recovering from a punctured lung. He later asked the press for restraint and said publicly that he forgave what had happened, returning to touring soon after and describing the years since as the happiest of his career.
