Biography & Career:
Saber Rebai is a Tunisian singer, composer and actor and one of the most celebrated voices in the Arab world. A trained violinist who also plays the oud, the artist began singing professionally at 17 and quickly won the admiration of the leading names in classical Arabic music. Now approaching sixty, the star still commands every stage, and age has only added warmth and authority to that powerful voice.

The nationality is Tunisian and the ethnicity Arab, with a sense of heritage that reaches beyond North Africa: during a concert in Aden, the singer spoke with pride about family roots in Yemen. Personal religion is rarely discussed in public, and the focus stays firmly on the music.

Since 2004 Saber Rebai has been signed to Rotana, the leading record label in the region, and a long run of albums has blended classical Arabic tradition with modern pop arrangements. The big breakthrough came in 2000 with a title track that became a massive pan-Arab hit and still ranks among the best songs of that era. Many songs carry melodies composed by the singer, while collaborations with writers such as Hilmi Baker and Salah El Charnoubi helped shape a refined, romantic style.

Every Saber Rebai live concert feels like a major event, from Carthage and Cairo to the Olympia in Paris, with tours across Europe, the USA and Australia and awards from festivals throughout the Arab world. Away from the stage, family life has seen two chapters. A marriage to the first wife, a banker, brought two children, Eslam and Safa. In 2013 the singer married current wife Ikhlas, and the couple has since welcomed a son, Jude Hedi. Music also runs in the family, as the singer Ahmed Rebai is a nephew.
