Shakti Mohan

‘Shakti’ in Hindi means Power, or strength. Shakti Mohan, a phenomenal dance professional who hails from India, is all power! Having had modest beginnings in Delhi and Mumbai, where she completed her Masters in Political Science in hopes of becoming an Indian Administrative Service (‘IAS’) Officer, Mohan hardly just chanced upon auditioning for the 2nd season of one of India’s foremost dance reality shows, “Dance India Dance”, where she won the grand title and was honoured with Performer of the Series too.

The passion, training and dedication for Dance from a very young age are what allowed Mohan to continue dancing and studying together through school and college, with love for various dance styles including Bharatnatyam, Contemporary and Hip-Hop styles. Most of these had been showcased on the reality shows when she was a contestant as well as when she was called to judge.

While one of Mohan’s strongest desires is to become one of India’s leading choreographers, she pursued another dream. ‘Nritya Shakti’ is a drive that Mohan launched in 2011 to bring together dancers and dance enthusiasts from around the world for trainings, online workshops, tutorials, solidarity and most importantly for dance calendars that can be updated and referred to at any time.
