Spandau Ballet

British pop music band Spandau Ballet are one of the highest-selling bands of the 1980s, having topped the charts numerous times with hits such as ‘True’ and ‘Gold’. The band, which formed in 1979, have performed across the globe for thousands of fans and have released 10 albums, with three of them being highly praised greatest hits compilations.

The band first enjoyed success with their debut album ‘Journeys to Glory’, which peaked at Number 5 in the UK, going Gold in the process. The lead single from the album, ‘To Cut a Long Story Short’, went up to Number 5 in the UK and was a hit across the world.

The band released their second album in 1982 and quickly followed it with the 1983 album ‘True’ which became their biggest release to date, topping the charts in the UK, Netherlands and New Zealand, reaching Platinum and Gold status around the world. The album also included the hits ‘True’, which topped charts and peaked at Number 4 in the US, as well as ‘Gold’ which was another Top Ten hit for the band.

A year later, Spandau Ballet’s album ‘Parade’ became another Top Ten hit, with the hits ‘Only When You Leave’ and ‘I’ll Fly For You’ forming another part of Spandau Ballet’s successful list of hit songs.
