One of the best things about watching live comedy is seeing a comedian finally find their comic voice. Some comics never find it, but when one does, there's no mistaking it. Suddenly, that ordinary bloke behind the mic becomes a cartoon version of himself. Everything he says is funny, and anything that happens to him is more material for his act. It's partly about finding out who you really are, and how the punters really see you, but the main part remains a mystery. Yet whatever that mystery consists of, John Fothergill has just found it. He's always been a solid comic, but now he looks like he was born on stage, under a follow spot, with a mic in his hand.

He started out in showbiz in a band called One Hand One Heart, managed by Chas Chandler of Slade,

Animals and Jimi Hendrix fame. They were signed by Epic, then Sony, and after they were dropped, he went to work on a gas rig. It's my guess that this cocktail of toil and rock'n'roll is what made him a comic. See for yourself.

Valentina

Valentina Danubio is an Italian stand-up comedian from Sicily, based in Dubai since 2015, with a growing audience of 75K+ followers on Instagram. She began her stand-up career in 2023 and quickly made her mark, winning Survival of the Funniest just six months later.

Since then, she has performed across the UAE and internationally, appearing regularly at The Laughter Factory and Pepperoni Comedy Club, and performing as part of Abu Dhabi Comedy Season alongside international comedians. She has also performed in Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Italy, sharing the stage with acts including Netflix-featured comedian Robby Collins.

Valentina is also a driving force behind Italian-language comedy in the region, co-producing and performing Italian comedy shows in Dubai. Her comedy is sharp, personal and unapologetically relatable, drawing on life as an Italian working mother in the Middle East, with material about family, marriage, motherhood, body image, work and cultural differences. She also incorporates ukulele into selected comedy bits, adding a playful musical twist to her stand-up.

Born in Karachi and living in Dubai, TABARAK has unique and highly skewed opinions on the things he observes on a daily basis.

His quick wit, charisma, and ferociously aggressive style of comedy have made him a staple of Dubai’s local comedy circuit. He is one of the winners of the Short & Sweet Comedy Festival, Espana Comedy Games and Beat The Camel, to name a few.

Nicole Drinkwater is a British comedian and content creator, part of a new wave of performers bridging the gap between online and live comedy. Having built a following of over 500,000 through her sharp, satirical take on modern life, she represents a rare hybrid of digital influence and on-stage performance.
