In just six years, the number of metro lines in Dubai will double. Blue Line hasn’t even opened yet, and a fourth line is already on the way. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has announced a new transport project, Gold Line. Here’s what to know about the route and connections.

If you’re wondering where to switch between lines, here are the first connections announced:

  • Red Line at Business Bay and Jumeirah Golf Estates
  • Green Line at Al Ghubaiba
  • Etihad Rail at Meydan and Jumeirah Golf Estates

You can read more Etihad Rail and its stations here.

Gold Line will run fully underground, reaching depths of up to 40 m. The route will stretch from Al Ghubaiba to Jumeirah Golf Estates, passing through areas like Business Bay, Meydan, and Jumeirah Village Circle.

With a total length of 42 kilometres, it will be the second longest metro line in the city after Red Line.

The official launch of Gold Line is scheduled for September 9, 2032.

As you might know, Dubai Metro lines follow the same launch date:

  • Red Line opened on September 9, 2009
  • Green Line opened on September 9, 2011
  • Blue Line is scheduled for September 9, 2029

Announcing a new era for Dubai metro, Sheikh Mohammed said: “There is no finish line for progress and excellence.”
