From high-speed trains that will revolutionize travel times to new luxurious train services and international rail expansions, the progress in transforming rail travel across the UAE and the region has been remarkable. Here’s a quick recap of the key milestones in Etihad Rail development so far.

When Will Etihad Rail Be Ready for Passengers?

First passenger trip (introductory operational phase) between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah will take place on June 30. According to the website, the journey takes 2 hours.

You can already book tickets on the Etihad Rail official website or mobile application for this journey.

Full passenger services will launch on September 30, 2026, when Dubai Train Station and Al Dhaid Train Station will open.

Later openings include: stations in Al Dhafra open on December 30; Sharjah Train Station opens on March 30, 2027.

Where Will the Passenger Stations Be?

So far, Etihad Rail has 11 confirmed stations across the following emirates:

  • Abu Dhabi: Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Al Sila, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezairaa, Al Faya
  • Dubai: Jumeirah Golf Estates
  • Sharjah: University City, Al Dhaid
  • Fujairah: Al Hilal

Business Class by Etihad Rail

Etihad Rail has revealed a sneak peek of its business class cabins. As for now, the Business class journey between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah costs AED 120 (with 50% discount), while standard ticket (Comfort class) cost AED 55 (with 50% discount).

This video shows a prototype train with space for 400 passengers in Comfort and Business class. It also highlights onboard features like WiFi, food and beverage services, and panoramic windows, offering scenic views, including Almaha Forests of Fujairah.

Confirmed Travel Times between the main UAE Cities

Etihad Rail has shared estimated travel times for key routes:

  • Abu Dhabi to Dubai: 57 minutes
  • Abu Dhabi to Al Ruwais: 70 minutes
  • Abu Dhabi to Fujairah: 119 minutes

Further Expansion of Etihad Rail: UAE to Jordan and Oman

The UAE has signed a deal to help build a 360km rail network in Jordan, which could pave the way for a wider GCC rail system. Meanwhile, Hafeet Rail, the Oman-UAE railway, is moving forward. This 238km railway will allow passengers to travel from Abu Dhabi to Sohar in just 100 minutes. Construction has already begun.
