Biography & Career:
DJ Mustard is an acclaimed American record producer, DJ, and songwriter whose real name is Dijon Isaiah McFarlane. Born in Los Angeles, California, to Jamaican parents, the stage name came naturally — Dijon is a direct reference to Dijon mustard. At just 11 years old, an uncle introduced him to DJing at a family party, sparking a passion that would eventually reshape West Coast hip-hop. By the early 2010s, a signature sound emerged — what he calls "ratchet music" — an uptempo, club-oriented, melodic hip hop style instantly recognizable by the producer tag "Mustard on the beat, ho!"

The biggest hits as a producer began with Tyga's Rack City in 2011, which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. From there, the discography grew rapidly, spanning records for 2 Chainz, YG, Rihanna, Ty Dolla Sign, and many others. The debut solo album, 10 Summers (2014), cracked the Billboard Top 200, followed by Cold Summer (2016) and Perfect Ten (2019), which spawned the top 40 hits Ballin' with Roddy Ricch and Pure Water with Migos. In 2024, DJ Mustard produced Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us — the first ever number one on the Billboard Hot 100 — cementing a status as one of the most influential beatmakers in the game.

On the personal side, DJ Mustard married longtime partner Chanel Thierry in 2020, but the couple separated in 2022 and officially divorced in 2023, making her the ex wife. Together they share kids — two sons and a daughter. The fourth solo Mustard album, Faith of a Mustard Seed (2024), featured Travis Scott, Roddy Ricch, Future, Ella Mai, and many more, addressing themes of faith, loss, and personal resilience. The DJ Mustard songs on the project showed a more vulnerable and soulful side, and among the best songs in the catalogue, tracks like Ballin', Pure Water, and Not Like Us remain the most celebrated — reflecting everything overcome to reach this point in a remarkable career.
