Biography & Career:
Paul de Saint Sernin is a French humoriste, television columnist and former sports journalist, and one of the most talked-about comedians on French screens today. Raised in Chaville, just outside Paris, in a family of six children, the comedian grew up between school, the local football club and the scouts.
The parents have ordinary professional backgrounds: the father worked as an insurance broker and the mother as a bank employee. The children were raised in a Catholic environment, which answers the frequent question about religion. Comedy runs in the family too, since younger brother Guillaume is also active on the stand-up scene.
Journalism came first. At 19, Paul de Saint Sernin joined the Canal+ group, reporting on football and presenting sports news, then co-hosted the morning show on Non Stop People. Paris comedy clubs followed around the age of 25, then columns on Le Petit Journal and Téléfoot. Since 2022 he has appeared on Quelle époque on France 2, addressing guests directly from the audience.
The stand up Paul de Saint Sernin delivers on stage blends sharp observation with plenty of self-mockery. A first one-man show, co-written with Grégoire Dey, ran at the Théâtre du Marais, and the new spectacle now tours France, with dates at the Théâtre de la Madeleine and the Olympia in Paris.
Private life stays mostly away from the cameras. The comedian is married, but the wife keeps out of the public eye.
