Funmbi Omotayo

Relaxed, calm and ever-charming, Funmbi Omotayo is one of the most natural comedians on the UK scene right now. His career received a major kick-start following his victory in the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year competition in 2012 and since then he has gone on to entertain crowds across the UK and further afield.

Whilst his roots have always been a key part of his comedy routine, he has continued to build a fan base through his quick wit and perfect timing, resulting in him gaining several television appearances. Funmbi was invited by UK comedy fan favourite, John Bishop, to appear on his show. Omotayo followed this with slots on Comedy Central’s Comedy Store Live, Sniggers with Attitude and MTV’s Tramadol Nights. Additionally, he featured alongside Joe Swash in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here NOW!.

Funmbi has been nominated for and won numerous awards including the Best Newcomer award at the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards 2004, Laughing Horse New Act of the Year finalist in 2012 and the Amused Moose Laugh-Off joint winner in 2012.

With his name to many awards and laughter still ringing in clubs and festivals, it is clear that Funmbi is a comic that is here to stay. From his Edinburgh Fringe shows, highlighting his upbringing in Hackney, London and his Nigerian roots, to his television appearances, Funmbi is definitely a comedian to watch.
