Biography & Career:
Marlon Jackson is an American singer, dancer and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the Jackson 5. The date of birth is 12 March 1957, a year and a half before younger brother Michael arrived. The sixth child of Joe and Katherine Jackson, Marlon grew up in a large musical family with eight siblings: brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Michael and Randy, and sisters Rebbie, La Toya and Janet. A twin brother, Brandon, died shortly after birth. Michael became an especially close companion, and the pair often called themselves the jokers of the family.
By 1964 Marlon had joined the brothers on stage, singing backing vocals, playing congas and tambourine and adding sharp dance moves to every performance. After the move to Epic Records in the mid seventies, the group carried on as The Jacksons and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. A solo album followed in 1987, along with production work for sisters La Toya and Janet. Away from music, the singer built a successful real estate business in Southern California, cofounded a television network and in 2015 launched the Study Peace Foundation, which builds playgrounds and community programmes.
Today Marlon and older brother Jackie still tour as The Jacksons, with UK dates set for November 2026. The family story also reached cinemas in the 2026 movie Michael, where Tre Horton and Jaylen Lyndon Hunter play Marlon at different ages.
Family life has stayed remarkably steady. Marlon met his future wife, Carol Ann Parker, in New Orleans while on tour, and the couple married in 1975. They have three children: two daughters, Valencia and Brittany, and a son, Marlon Jr. The kids have since given the couple six grandchildren, and for Marlon Jackson family remains at the centre of everything.
