Gopi Sundar is an Indian music director, playback singer, songwriter, programmer, and actor who works across the Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil film industries. Born on May 30, 1977, in Kochi, Kerala, early interest in music came naturally — the father, Suresh Babu, ran a recording studio, and the mother, Livi, shared a deep love of radio music. The parents were supportive even when Gopi dropped out of school after failing exams, choosing instead to pursue music full-time. The religion is Hindu. The family background in music opened the first door: the father helped secure a position in the troupe of Malayalam composer Ouseppachan, who became a mentor. From there, Gopi Sundar built a career composing nearly 5,000 jingles for television commercials before transitioning into film. His debut as a music director came with the 2006 Malayalam film Notebook, launching a career that would span over 100 films. Among the most celebrated are Anwar, Ustad Hotel, Bangalore Days, 1983, and Pulimurugan — the latter's soundtrack was considered for 90th Academy Awards nominations.
