Starting November 1, Sharjah will implement new paid parking hours in designated “blue zones” throughout the emirate. These zones will now require paid parking from 8 AM to midnight, every day of the week, including public holidays. This extension adds two hours to the previous 8 AM to 10 PM timing, and aims to improve availability for drivers in high-demand areas.
Hourly Parking Costs and Payment Options
For those using Sharjah’s hourly parking, the updated fee structure remains as follows:
- 1 hour = AED 2
- 2 hours = AED 5
- 3 hours = AED 8
- 5 hours = AED 12
Payments can be conveniently made via the SMS parking service or through the Sharjah Parking App, which also includes options for real-time space availability and alerts for parking expiration.
Subscription Packages for Frequent Users
Frequent users have the choice to purchase prepaid parking subscriptions. There are various options for both personal and business subscriptions, each covering either all public parking areas in Sharjah or limited to specific areas. These packages start at:
- Personal Subscription (all areas): AED 170 for 10 days, AED 390 for 30 days, or AED 2,300 annually.
- Business Subscription (all areas): AED 1,050 for three months or AED 2,850 for a year.
In addition, specific-area packages are available at discounted rates for those who regularly park in particular zones, making them a more cost-effective choice for frequent drivers in Sharjah’s commercial districts.
Parking Tips for Tourists and Residents
Sharjah visitors and locals will benefit from knowing that many popular spots, like malls and major tourist areas, follow similar paid parking schedules, though some offer a grace period (e.g., Mega Mall and Sahara Centre provide free parking for the first two hours). For those visiting Sharjah International Airport, separate rates apply, with short-term fees starting at AED 16 for the first hour.
To avoid fines, which range from AED 100 for overstaying paid parking to AED 1,000 for misuse, drivers are advised to follow local signage closely and use digital options like SMS or the app for added convenience.
