Hatta has unveiled an extraordinary addition to its breathtaking landscape just in time for the UAE National Day long weekend — a massive mosaic artwork that has set a new Guinness World Record as the largest of its kind. Spanning an impressive 2,198.7 square meters, this masterpiece is a striking homage to the UAE’s founding fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Nestled on the slope of the Hatta Dam Waterfalls, the mural captures a historical photograph of the two leaders, depicting their warm smiles in intricate detail. Crafted from over 1.2 million pieces of marble, the mosaic is a stunning blend of artistry and cultural reverence, reflecting the UAE’s heritage.

This monumental artwork replaces a previous mural in the same location, continuing the tradition of honoring the nation’s trailblazers. The design draws inspiration from the founding fathers’ traditional attire, creating a visual narrative that resonates with emotional and historical significance.

The mural is part of the Dubai Street Museum initiative, launched in 2016 by Brand Dubai in collaboration with DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority). This initiative aims to spotlight Dubai’s rich cultural identity and history while celebrating its aspirations for the future.

Set against the rugged beauty of the Hajar Mountains, the project required over four months of meticulous work. Advanced techniques and innovative artistry have brought the vision to life, transforming the Hatta landscape into a vibrant cultural landmark.

As UAE celebrates its 53rd National Day, this mosaic serves as a powerful reminder of the legacy and unity of the nation’s leaders. Hatta, already known for its stunning scenery and outdoor activities, now boasts a record-breaking artwork that promises to captivate visitors from around the globe.
