It’s jellyfish season in Bahrain, and while beach days are still a tempting solution to deal with the heat, swimmers and sunseekers are advised to take a few extra precautions before diving in. Whether you’re heading out for a dip or just letting the kids play by the shore, here’s how to enjoy Bahrain’s waters safely this summer.
A large number of jellyfish were recently spotted in Manama, raising concerns among beachgoers and prompting extra caution for those planning to swim in the area.

Tips to Stay Safe During Jellyfish Season
- Stay updated. Before heading to the beach, check for local reports or updates on jellyfish sightings
- Avoid areas with jellyfish activity. If you spot clusters of jellyfish in the water (like in the video above) or washed up on shore, it’s best to steer clear of swimming in that area
- Wear protective swimwear: a wetsuit or rash guard can offer a barrier and lower your chances of getting stung
- Supervise children closely. Remind them not to touch jellyfish — even those that appear dead can still sting
- Know what to do if stung: rinse the area with vinegar as soon as possible. Avoid rubbing the sting — this can worsen irritation

Jellyfish are a natural part of Bahrain’s marine life during the warmer months, and being aware of their presence can help keep your beach outings enjoyable and incident-free.
