Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are preparing to introduce a new passenger sea route, connecting the two Gulf nations and enhancing regional maritime links. This initiative was recently announced by Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, during the Second Maritime Industries Sustainability Conference in Jeddah.
The new sea route will link Bahrain’s Khalifa bin Salman Port with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, providing a much-needed boost to both passenger and cargo transportation between the two countries. This development is part of broader efforts to strengthen the maritime and logistical ties that bind Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah confirmed that discussions are ongoing regarding the King Hamad Causeway project, a long-awaited bridge that would further enhance connectivity. The proposed causeway, which would run alongside the existing King Fahd Causeway, is expected to span approximately 25 kilometers, offering additional route that will improve traffic flow.
For those who regularly travel between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, King Fahd Causeway remains the primary link between the two nations. If you’re looking to bypass traffic and enjoy a faster journey, the Express Lane option is available for SAR 230 (BHD 23). This allows travelers to skip the queues and save time, making cross-border travel even more convenient.
