Riyadh Public Transport has introduced a set of fines to maintain order and encourage respectful behavior among passengers of Riyadh Metro. Below is an overview of 10 fines to help you stay informed and avoid any penalties while using the metro.
- Eating or drinking inside the metro will cost you SAR 100. If you’re thinking about munching on a snack or sipping your latte while riding, best to save those cravings for before or after your ride
- Smoking or vaping inside the metro is even more expensive: SAR 200
- Bringing food or objects with unpleasant odours will cost you SAR 200. The metro is a small, enclosed space, and no one wants to ride next to strong-smelling food, garbage, or even sweaty socks

- Travelling without a ticket will cost you SAR 200
- Placing feet on the seats will set you back SAR 200. We all love the metro, but let’s keep the seats clean and respect the space
- If using seats reserved for the disabled, you’ll be facing a SAR 200 fine. Those seats are for people with limited mobility. Don’t sit there unless you have a valid reason
- Bringing bicycles, scooters, or skateboards inside the metro is prohibited, and will result in a SAR 200 fine. Strollers and mobility aids are the only exceptions

- Sleeping in the train or station can cost you SAR 200
- Disturbing fellow passengers and metro staff can result in a SAR 200 fine. This include talking loudly on the phone, blasting music, or blocking the doors. Keep noise to a minimum

Now that you know the rules, it’s easier to enjoy your journey with peace of mind. And if you’re an early bird, you’ll be happy to know that Riyadh Metro has changed its working hours this September, allowing you to hop on a train as early as 5:30 AM.
