Thailand’s busiest airports are preparing for a change this summer, and you will likely notice it when booking your flight. Airports of Thailand (AOT) is increasing international passenger service charge starting June 20, and the change affects travellers departing from six airports.
The charge will increase from THB 730 (appr. USD 20) to THB 1,120 (appr. USD 31).
The new fee applies only to outbound international passengers.

The new fee of THB 1,120 for international departures will apply at the following hubs:
- Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)
- Don Mueang International Airport (DMK)
- Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX)
- Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport (CEI)
- Phuket International Airport (HKT)
- Hat Yai International Airport (HDY)
AOT mentioned the extra revenue will go toward airport upgrades and passenger services. Planned improvements include expanded passenger terminals, automated Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUPPS) for check-in, and updated safety technology.
