RAK has welcomed its first electric public bus this summer. The service is part of the Purple Route, with stops at hospitals, government services, and the university along the way.

Additionally, Purple Route has been extended and now connects Al Nakheel and Manar Mall. Here are the new stops:

  • Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security
  • Obaidullah Hospital
  • American University of Ras Al Khaimah
  • Al Seih
  • Ras Al Khaimah Hospital
  • Public Health Centre – Preventive Medicine
  • People of Determination Centre

The extended route covers additional 14 km. The service makes 12 trips a day. Better yet, RAKTA announced that passengers can ride it free of charge during the first month.

Other big changes are coming to RAK’s public transport system. Here’s the latest news: robobuses are already moving around Al Marjan Island, and Uber is preparing to launch taxi and limousine rides in the emirate.
