Lebanon could soon have a second airport for passenger flights. Authorities have announced the start of rehabilitation works at Rene Mouawad Airport (KYE) in Qlayaat, Akkar.
Located near the Syrian border, Rene Mouawad Airport has been used by the Lebanese Army for decades. The work is expected to take at least three months and will be followed by a pilot phase. If everything goes according to plan, the airport could open to passengers in November 2026.

Lebanon is also in contact with budget airlines including Ryanair and Pegasus Airlines, although no routes have been announced.
