Saudi Arabia is stepping into the world of luxury rail travel with its first-ever five-star train, the Dream of the Desert. Designed in collaboration between Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) and Italian hospitality experts Arsenale, this train promises to redefine opulent travel in the region.
Blending modern elegance with Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage, the Dream of the Desert takes inspiration from the vast, golden landscapes and traditional Saudi architecture. From earthy tones and rich textiles to intricate patterns that nod to landmarks like Madain Saleh and Hail, every detail of the train has been thoughtfully designed.

According to the project, the train will have 14 carriages with just 34 suites. The Dream of the Desert offers a luxury itinerary that takes passengers from Riyadh to Al Qurayyat, passing through some of the Kingdom’s most fascinating regions, including Al Qassim, Hail, and Al Jouf. The journey will offer an unforgettable way to explore Saudi Arabia’s diverse landscapes.
Passengers can enjoy cultural programs that showcase Saudi traditions, while panoramic windows provide breathtaking views of the desert.
Dining on board promises to be an equally remarkable experience. Imagine sitting in a beautifully designed lounge inspired by traditional Saudi majlis, complete with hand-carved wooden décor, while savoring dishes created by top chefs.
The Dream of the Desert is expected to begin operations by the end of Q3 2026, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative to boost high-end tourism and celebrate the Kingdom’s cultural heritage.
