The UAE is gearing up for its annual National Day celebrations with an exciting four-day break for both public and private sector employees. Known now as Eid Al Etihad, this year’s holiday marks the 53rd anniversary of the unification of the Emirates in 1971. The UAE National Day, celebrated every year on December 2, highlights the country’s journey of unity and progress.
For 2024, the UAE Government has designated December 2 (Monday) and December 3 (Tuesday) as official paid holidays for government employees and private sector workers. With the traditional Saturday-Sunday weekend preceding it, the holiday creates a long-awaited four-day weekend for the residents. Regular office hours will resume on Wednesday, December 4.
This extended break is part of a nationwide unified holiday policy that ensures both public and private sector employees enjoy equal time off throughout the year.
The official Eid Al Etihad ceremony will take place in the picturesque landscapes of Al Ain, featuring high-profile attendance by the nation’s Rulers and leaders. The event promises spectacular performances and tributes to the UAE’s rich history and culture.
National Day is a time of enthusiasm and celebration for citizens and residents. Families often go all out, spending thousands of dirhams on grand gatherings, akin to preparing for a wedding. Streets are alive with patriotic fervor as cars are adorned with UAE colors and flags, adding to the festive atmosphere.
In recent years, authorities have issued guidelines to ensure safe and respectful celebrations. From road safety to maintaining public order, the aim is to ensure everyone enjoys this special occasion without disruptions.
