A brand-new scenic road is coming to Sharjah. His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced a new road that will stretch over the mountain peaks and lead to the coastal city of Khorfakkan.
According to Sheikh Sultan, the upcoming project will start from the Ghazir Tunnel and rise all the way to the highest mountain peak in Khorfakkan — at 1,100 metres above sea level. The route will be surrounded by trees, plants, waterways, and residential areas, offering a unique driving experience through the mountain landscape.

The road is part of a broader push to elevate Khorfakkan as a day-trip and weekend destination. Known for its laid-back beaches and rising tourism profile, the city is steadily developing into one of the UAE’s cultural and natural highlights.
In addition to the road, a new walkway project is also being introduced in Khorfakkan, making the town even more accessible for visitors who want to explore on foot.
The emirate may see an increase in visitor numbers soon — in July, Faya Palaeolandscape joined the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, shining an international spotlight on the region’s deep cultural and geological significance.
