Big news for tennis fans: The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has just announced that Saudi Arabia will be adding a new Masters 1000 tournament to its calendar, starting in 2028. The tournament will take place at the start of the season and run for one week each year.

This marks the first-ever expansion of the top-tier category in men’s tennis since the Masters events began in 1990. This new event will join the nine Masters tournaments around the world, including locations like Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and Madrid. The exact location for Saudi’s tournament is yet to be announced.

While the tournament will be a major addition to the tennis calendar, it’s important to note that it will not be mandatory for players, unlike many of the other Masters events. This gives players the flexibility to decide whether to compete in the Saudi tournament, especially as the tour’s already packed schedule runs from January to November.

In addition to tennis, there are many other big events on the horizon for Saudi Arabia, including Intervision 2026, a multicultural song contest, WWE event WrestleMania 43 in 2027, and the Esports Nations Cup 2026 next November. With all these amazing events coming up, Saudi Arabia is quickly becoming a global hub for entertainment.

Stay tuned for more updates on these events and more happening in the Kingdom!
